Features of N-Hydroxy Succinimide NHS:
1) The presence of NHS increases the efficiency of EDC-mediated coupling;
2) Amine-reactive NHS esters can be prepared from any carboxyl-containing molecule;
3) NHS derivatives of typical small molecules (such as biotin) are uncharged, organically soluble (first in DMSO) and cell membrane permeable;
4) High-purity crystalline NHS can be used to generate high-quality activated derivatives;
5) NHS, an uncharged Sulfo-NHS (N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide) analogue, can control and modify the carbodiimide crosslinking reaction activated by carboxylate (- COOH) coupled with primary amine (- NH2).
